The Red One is a digital camera that is capable of shooting at resolutions up to 4096 horizontal pixels (4k) up to speeds of 120 FPS, and recording directly to Compact Flash or hard disk-based digital storage. It features a CMOS chip the same size as a frame of super 35mm film, providing comparably shallow Depth of Field characteristics. This, combined with and industry standard PL lens mount, allows cinematographers to shoot with any professional cinematic lens on the market today.
